Formula to Whole Milk | When is the Right Time to Switch

Breast Milk is the best option for a newborn baby, however many mothers need an alternate solution as well to complement breastfeeding at some stage of a new born baby, for that organic baby formula is a good option because they are fortified, organic, and closer to breastmilk. The European baby formulas like HiPP, Holle, and Lebenswert are the renowned ones. However, the question is when do babies stop formula? Till 12 months, the whole milk is too much for the little digestive system of babies. After 12 months, when your baby is toddler, you can switch him/her to whole milk after consultation with your doctor.

Some babies make a switch from formula to whole milk with not much hesitation. While others are very uncomfortable to try out any new milk other than the one, they were using. The main thing here is that your baby at the age of toddler must get enough calcium, vitamin D and other nutrients for the growth. If your baby has started taking table food with ease then you can lower down the intake of the milk in an entire day. For enough calcium and vitamin D, your child needs 8 to 10 ounces of cow milk. A grown-up baby can also take these nutrients from cheese and yogurt. However, make sure that your child stays hydrated too.

If your child is not comfortable with the whole milk then you don’t need to force it un-necessarily. The organic formulas are also available to cater the nutrients needs of toddler. HiPP, Holle, Lebenswert and Loulouka formula milk are all available in stage 3 that can provide your baby enough nutrients of vitamin and calcium.

Conclusion

When is the right time to switch? There is not a fixed time, the formula milk can complement the whole milk nutrition with its advanced stage 3 stages. You need to understand your baby needs, consult your doctor and then decide what suits best.
